MHS FBLA students show out at regionals

Mitchell High Future Business Leaders of America students earlier this month traveled to Haywood Community College to represent Mitchell County in the FBLA Western Regional Competition.

Students participate in various events including tests, interviews and speaking events.

Some events require participants to compete at the regional level.

Jennifer Barnett and Taylor Hughes, MHS FBLA advisors, had their students well-prepared for the competition. Mitchell students brought home four first-place medals, a second-place medal, two third-place medals and a regional participant honor.

Connor Cole earned first place in Computer Applications. Renaldo Silva earned first in Introduction to Information Technology.

Chloe Cook and Maggie Martin rounded out the group’s first-place finishes with top honors in Introduction to Public Speaking and Future Business Leader, respectively.

Evan Gardner notched second place in Spreadsheet Applications.

Rylee Carver earned third in Job Interview and Brinkley Hodshon finished third in Public Speaking. Ashlyn Buchanan was a regional participant.

Each student brought home a medal to commemorate their achievements.
