The Mayland Community College Board of Trustees has selected three finalists for the presidency of MCC.
Public forums are ongoing this week (the first was held the afternoon of Tuesday, April 29), and each candidate will participate in a one-hour forum. The board invites and encourages everyone to participate in the open forums. Forums will be made accessible to all faculty, administrators, staff, students, and the general public.
The MCC presidential finalists are (in alphabetical order):
• Aron Gabriel, Ed.D., is the superintendent of Newton-Conover City Schools in North Carolina. Previously, Gabriel served as the associate superintendent of Newton-Conover City Schools. Gabriel earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Western Carolina University, a master’s degree in curriculum and supervision from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; and a bachelor’s degree in English from Montreat College.
• Jeremy R. Gibbs, Ed.D., is a senior consultant for EducationNC in North Carolina. Previously, Gibbs served as the deputy state superintendent of public instruction for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Gibbs earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Western Carolina University; a master of school administration degree from North Carolina State University; and a bachelor of music in degree in music education from East Carolina University.
• Robin Ross, Ed.D., is the vice president of K64 and Talent Development of Catawba Valley Community College in North Carolina. Previously, Ross served as the dean of the School of Health and Public Services of Catawba Valley Community College. Ross earned a doctor of education degree in adult and community college education from North Carolina State University; a master of science degree in organizational leadership from Mountain State University; a bachelor of science degree in therapeutic recreation from East Carolina University; and an associate of applied science degree in respiratory therapy from Catawba Valley Community College.
At the forums, there will be a brief introduction of each candidate, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Forums will be conducted in-person in the Sam Center located in the Phillips Building on the MCC Main Campus. All who attend will be asked to complete a feedback form and the completed forms will be given to the Board of Trustees for their review.
