L&L owner Walton Shepherd has expansion on his mind.

The local furniture company earlier this month announced the addition of two more showrooms on Upper Street, including one showroom that will feature a full outdoor center via a partnership with Buck Stove.

The outdoor center will feature furniture, heating options, kitchen items, grills and anything else that Buck Stove provides.

The other new showroom will feature furniture on a “very friendly” budget. With the expansion, L&L will also add two more “well-known” furniture vendors.

“It gives our customers the chance to continue to shop locally for all their furniture, appliance and decor needs,” Shepherd said.

L&L’s new showrooms will go in the property that used to house Keen Outdoors, which expanded as Burnette’s Country Store across the street into the former Southwest Trading Company building following the recent retirement of owners Lisa and Gregg Henline.

Walton and his family, wife Kayla and kids Liam and Lillian, bought Peoples Furniture in late 2021 and have operated it as L&L Furniture since, in the same location on Upper Street.

Though the ownership changed, the Shepherds have remained committed to the community and their central location on Upper Street.

“At L&L Furniture, we strive to support local in every decision we make,” Shepherd said. “Spruce Pine is fortunate to have so many local resources that we can use to provide for this community. We are passionate about employing and supporting local in every aspect.”
