Republican Dudley Greene easily won Mitchell County over Democrat Robert Cordle in the race for North Carolina House of Representatives District 85. Republicans Virginia Foxx (House of Representatives District 5) and Ted Budd (U.S. Senate) cruised to landslide wins in Mitchell County, as well.

Mitchell County voters cast 6,559 ballots out of 11,200 registered voters, which is good for a 58.56% voter turnout.
