Chamber members mingle, win awards at annual dinner

Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce members gathered in the Cross Street Commerce Center on Tuesday, Nov. 1 to eat, mingle and celebrate each other.

The annual member awards were presented and comedian Kelly Swanson entertained the attendees.

Quartz Corp was tabbed as Chamber Member of the Year and Sibelco earned Chamber Champion.

L&L Furniture and Sips Soda tied for Rookie of the Year. The Hope House was the Non-profit of the Year.

Neighbors Feeding Neighbors Food Ministry was selected for the Spirit of Community Award and DT’s Blue Ridge Java was the Small Business of the Year.

Blue Ridge Regional Hospital earned the Hometown Hero award for its work during the pandemic. The Large Business of the Year award went to Hospice and Home Care of the Blue Ridge.

Hospice and Home Care also took home the Extra Mile award for amazing customer service.

Treasures in the Pines, Penland School of Craft, Mountain Community Health Partnership, the Cross Street Commerce Center (David and Stephanie Whitson) and the News-Journal served as dinner sponsors.
