SPRUCE PINE, N.C.— Frankie “Marie” Gardner, age 77, of Mitchell County, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13th, 2021, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.
A native of Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Carol Lee Lusk Gunter.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gardner, who passed away in 2002, as well as two brothers: Danny and Bobby Gunter.
While here on earth, Marie was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church and worked in manufacturing for most of her life.
She made many close friends over the years and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. Marie loved to laugh, and her sparkling giggle and fun-loving sense of humor will be warmly remembered by those she leaves behind. An avid reader, Marie kept a stack of books on hand to read and then share with others. She loved music and dogs, and especially her family and friends whom she held close to her heart. Marie leaves behind many cherished memories for those who were blessed to know her, and while we will miss her terribly, we take comfort in knowing that she is in the presence of the Lord, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
She is survived by two brothers: Richard Gunter (Carolyn) and Steven Gunter of Spruce Pine; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Gunter, Sue Quinn, Wilma Morgan, and Jane Gardner, all of Marion, and Rose Woodby of Burnsville; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Gardner, of Marion. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved family also survive.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. To send online condolences, please visit our website at www.yanceyfuneralservice.com.
