SPRUCE PINE, N.C.— Calvin Francis Hall, 92, of Halltown Rd, Spruce Pine passed away at home on Saturday, February 13, 2021. 

A lifelong resident of Spruce Pine, Calvin is now in his eternal home with his wife of 52 years, Margaret Tolley Hall, who passed in 2006. Calvin was also proceeded in death by his parents, Herbert Plato Hall and Callie Hensley Hall, one sister; Oveda Hall Gibson and brother in law; Fred A Gibson.

Calvin was proud to have served his country during the Korean War, before coming home to work at Fortner Insurance Agency for over 60 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Spruce Pine, where he had served in many capacities including Elder and Sunday School Superintendent. Calvin also took pride in being a member of Rotary International for over 60 years, where he was a four-time recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of Gideons International, Mitchell County Camp.

Calvin was a loving father, grandfather, and a friend to all. He loved life and being with people. He was active in many community events and established “Calvin’s Antique Acres”, preserving the history of Mitchell County.

Left to cherish Calvin’s memories are his three children; Helen Hall Baucom and husband, Chris of Clemmons, John Calvin Hall and wife, Sandy and Regina Hall Moore and husband, Travis of Spruce Pine. Three grandchildren; William Calvin Baucom and wife, Sarah of Clemmons, Tiffany Lee Hall and Eric Calvin Moore of Spruce Pine.

A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends was held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Spruce Pine with the Rev’s. Michael Poulos and Bill Sweetser officiating.  Interment will be in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Gideons International, Mitchell County Camp, PO Box 611, Spruce Pine, NC 28777 or First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 764, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
