This past Thursday evening, the Mitchell High School and Mitchell Middle School bands hosted a Christmas concert for the county.
In the wake of Helene, Christmas time has presented the community of Mitchell County with many opportunities to gather together and celebrate the holiday season.
“It’s been a challenge because of the storm, so for them to be able to play at all, we’re just happy for that,” said director Laura Cole.
Each band performed multiple songs that showed the results of their hard work and progress through the fall semester.
“We’re proud of how our students have prepared,” said the new high school band director Andrew Schwerzel.
This was the first performance for the Mitchell Middle School band, but the 10th performance of the semester for the high school band.
