Nine Mitchell High Future Health Professionals (HOSA) traveled to Greensboro earlier this month for the 2023 State Leadership Conference.

There, they competed in areas relating to healthcare, attended professional workshops, networked with colleges and healthcare industry professionals and competed in a group anatomage tournament.

Students earned the opportunity to advance to State competition by placing in the top rankings at the Regional competition this past November. There were approximately 2,100 HOSA students competing.

Mitchell’s Alondra Ramirez, Elizabeth Badillo and Selena Queriapa placed in the top 10 with their group project related to Health Education. The other students competing included Abby Richardson, Rheagan Thomas, Sophia Morgan, Connor Birchfield, Alex Huang and Nicole Garland.  Advisor Katy Grindstaff and the competitors thanked sponsors and supporters Fitness Express, Boone's Woodlawn Quarry, Mike the Firman Window Cleaning, Mitchell Veterinary Hospital and Appalachian Eye.

Grindstaff spent time preparing students for the competition during her spring break.
