Spruce Pine rescinded their pressure advisory for the town’s water system last week meaning town water customers no longer need to boil water before drinking or using it to prepare food.
The notice sent out by the town on Nov. 20 states that “it is no longer necessary to boil water used for human consumption.”
The town collected water samples on Nov. 19 and tested them for bacterial contamination, and the results indicated the water is safe to drink.
This applies to the entire Spruce Pine municipal water system.
Wastewater treatment
All lift stations are operational in the town of Spruce Pine with the exception of Shannon Drive and the Maintenance stations, as of Thursday, Nov. 21. The town will continue to pump and haul waste from these stations.
Some of the operational pump stations are utilizing bypass pumps. The overall status is that all customers can use their bathrooms except for a section of Beaver Creek where lines are missing. Contractors will address Beaver Creek the week after Thanksgiving.
If you have a restaurant, please contact Mason Gardner at Toe River Health District for re-opening procedures.
