Adam Ebernickel, an instructor in Mayland Community College’s Applied Engineering Department, recently completed the IronSWUG 2023 Motorcycle Tour.

His journey, in collaboration with SolidWorks/Dassault Systemes, spanned five states and featured 10 presentations showcasing his dedication to the SolidWorks community.

IronSWUG 2023, an unconventional SolidWorks User Group Tour, kicked off in Burnsville and continued through Roanoke, Philadelphia and Albany before culminating at the  Dassault Systemes Solidworks headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Ebernickel, alongside Brad Meador, embarked on the adventure delivering technical SolidWorks presentations to different User Groups daily, all while journeying on motorcycles.

The tour showcased an innovative approach to fostering engagement within the SolidWorks community, earning admiration and interest from attendees throughout the journey. Ebernickel’s passion for SolidWorks and his more than 20 years of design and engineering experience were evident in every presentation as he inspired and empowered participants from diverse backgrounds.

On June 23, the final day of the tour, Ebernickel and Meador arrived at the Dassault Systemes Solidworks headquarters in Waltham where they concluded their journey.

To mark the occasion, they extended an invitation to all Solidworks Users in the Waltham Area for an afternoon of free SolidWorks training at the Town Hall training space.

The event offered a unique opportunity for participants to enhance their SolidWorks skills, learn from experts and connect with fellow professionals in the region. Attendees were further delighted by a guest presentation from Jason Pohl, former SolidWorks designer for Orange County Choppers, who shared his expertise and experiences in the design and engineering realm.

Ebernickel’s commitment to applied engineering both within and outside the classroom has been a source of inspiration for students and colleagues alike.

“We’re tremendously proud of Adam’s commitment to applied engineering, both within and outside the classroom,” said Lyndell Duvall, Applied Engineering program coordinator at Mayland. “His inspiring journey on the IronSWUG tour is a true testament to his dedication and zeal for the field.

“Adam has truly become an ambassador for Mayland, helping to shape minds in the classroom while making waves in the real world.”

Mayland Community College seeks future collaborations that continue to inspire students and faculty.

The IronSWUG 2023 tour has proven the potential for unique learning experiences that go beyond the conventional classroom environment.
