VARSITY VOLLEYBALL: Mountaineers look to get back on track
LEDGER – Mitchell High School’s varsity volleyball team will look to get back on track with some late-season wins after dropping four-straight matches.
The Mountaineers (5-12, 1-5) have dropped their last four matches, all by 3-0 scores. Three of those four contests were on the road.
Mitchell was at Mountain Heritage Tuesday, Oct. 8. Results were not available at press time.
After facing the Cougars, Mitchell comes home to host Madison Thursday, Oct. 10, and Polk County Tuesday, Oct. 15, before closing the regular season Thursday, Oct. 17, at Avery.
Mitchell sits in fifth place in the Western Highlands Conference entering play Tuesday, ahead of Madison, which is 0-5 in conference play and is yet to win a set this season. Polk (12-3, 5-0) is in sole possession of first place while Mountain Heritage (5-9, 4-1) is one game behind in second place.
Avery (3-7, 3-2) and Owen (4-12, 3-3) are in third and fourth place, respectively.
