Soccer team searching for first win of season

LEDGER – The Mitchell High School girls’ soccer team is searching for its first win of the young 2019 season after a 6-0 season-opening loss at McDowell and a 3-2 loss Monday, March 4, at Brevard.

The Mountaineers (0-3) played their home opener Monday, March 11, in a rematch with McDowell (2-2) and suffered a 3-1 loss.

Junior goalie Destiny Hart recorded 19 saves in the 6-0 loss to McDowell. 

Junior MaKayla Phillips scored both goals for Mitchell in the 3-2 loss at Brevard

Mitchell has two straight home games this week when it hosts Brevard at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, and Swain County Friday, March 15.
