Soccer team beats Mountain Heritage

LEDGER – Mitchell High School’s girls’ soccer team earned its first win of the season Monday, April 1, by downing Mountain Heritage 6-1 on the road. 

The Mountaineers (1-9, 1-3) followed with a 3-0 loss to visiting Madison Wednesday, April 3. 

Sophomore Marley Cloer led the charge in the win over the Cougars by pouring in a team-high four goals. Junior Destiny Hart and freshman Savannah McMahan added one goal each. 

Mitchell pounded Heritage with 36 shots including a team-high 11 shots from junior MaKayla Phillips. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Paige Johnson made eight saves. 

The Mountaineers play next Friday, April 12, at Owen. Junior varsity begins at 4 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.
