Lauren E. Ringwood recently committed to play basketball for Salem College following four years of playing for the Mitchell High School Mountaineers.
Ringwood, as of this past Friday, is a Mitchell High graduate and she served as student body president for the 2024-25 school year.
Salem College is a private four-year college located in Winston-Salem.
Lauren said, “ When I was invited to tour the campus and meet with the coaching staff, I was unsure what to expect because I had not planned to attend a small private school. However, I was so impressed with Coach Dawson and Coach MP and their plans to rebuild the school’s basketball program. I felt I had found a great match for my wish to play ball and to acquire a degree in finance.”
Ringwood also spoke about her high school basketball years.
“I have had excellent coaches throughout my basketball playing years. I will always be thankful Hoop Lab coached me in Asheville with John and Roger Williams, Stan Cook for youth basketball, and Coach Mac, Coach Hall, and Coach Ryan Cook at Mitchell. These individuals have been instrumental in achieving this offer from Salem College.”
Ringwood was recently recognized as the Western Highland Conference Defensive Player of the Year, played in the WNC All-Star game, and was recognized as All-Conference.
