American Legion baseball begins May 19

The Burnsville American Legion Post 122’s Blue Ridge Timberwolves opens its first year of competition in the Department of North Carolina American Legion Baseball Program at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, against the Asheville Post 70 Cardinals at Mountain Heritage High School.

The Timberwolves’ season schedule brings six home games to Burnsville and nine away games, playing against other Senior American Legion teams in North Carolina American Legion Baseball, Area Four.

The 20 players on the Timberwolves’ game roster come from high schools in five area counties – Avery, Buncombe, Yancey, Madison and Mitchell – each county is also represented by veterans who live in those communities and are members of Burnsville Post 122.

Any change in schedule or game time will be posted on Post 122’s Facebook page. The gates open one hour prior to game time.

Admission for home games is $5 for adults; free for children 15-and-younger; and $2.50 for veterans. Saturday, May 19, is Armed Forces Day and there will be no charge for admission to the game against the Asheville Post 70 Cardinals.
