William "Bill" Pitman
William “Bill” Pitman, 76, of Hwy 226 S., Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 17, 2018. He was a son of the late Bill and Carrie McKinney Pitman, and a native of Mitchell County. He was a graduate of Bowman High School, worked with PET milk delivery for 21 years and was the owner-operator of Bakersville Quick Mart for 23 years. Bill also worked with Mitchell County Recycling Center. His passion was golfing and watching the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jamie Howell Pitman; son, Michael “Mike” Pitman (Chris), of Marion; daughter, Lisa Austin (Mark), of Bakersville; brother, Jerry Pitman (Becky), of Bakersville; four grandchildren, Cari Leigh Pitman, Michael Austin, Morgan Austin and Johnathan Pitman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Logan Michael Pitman; and brothers, Tim Pitman and Kenneth “Potty” Pitman.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at Mine Creek Baptist Church with Chris Rathbone, Mark McKinney and Russell McKinney officiating. The family received friends two hours before the service. Interment followed at Mine Creek Cemetery, Grindstaff Annex.
