Russell Ellsworth Macomber Jr., 74, of Feldspar Street, Spruce Pine, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born April 19, 1944, in Brockton, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Russell E. Macomber Sr. and the late Verna Louise Young Macomber. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Rosellen Reagan Macomber; his brother, George Macomber; and his sisters, Marilyn Mencer and Deborah Prescott.
Russell was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Spruce Pine. He loved his church, church family and pastor. He was a quiet man with a good sense of humor and was also a caring husband and parent. He enjoyed golf and watching John Wayne movies.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, James Macomber and wife, Heather, of Taunton, Massachusetts; his daughter, Lisa Macomber, of Taunton, Massachusetts; his sisters, Gail Anderson and husband, Richard, of Canton, Massachusetts, and Joyce Peloso, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts; his brother, James Macomber, and wife, Barbara, of Spruce Pine; and several nieces and nephews.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends was 3-4 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at Webb Funeral Home. Additional funeral arrangements will be under the direction of Conley Funeral Home in Brockton, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
