OBITUARY: Karen Pruitt
Karen Pruitt, 63, of Rockhouse Creek Road, Spruce Pine, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at her home.
Born Dec. 26, 1955, in Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Hilda Stewart Vance. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Sam Rudder.
Karen was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. She loved spending time at the beach and shopping. She also enjoyed spending time reading her Bible.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 28 years, Roger Pruitt, of Spruce Pine; her daughters, Dena Hadley, and husband, Will, of Graham, and Jennifer Mann, and husband, Mitch, of Burlington; her son, Ricky Pruitt, and wife, Rhea, of South Port; her grandchildren, Alexis, Jonathon, Ricky Jr., Maddux, Londyn and Bristol; her sisters, Sharon Justice, and husband, Duke, of Burlington, Phyliss Michael, and husband, Keith, of Elon, Janice Champion, of Elon, and Libby Justice, and husband, R.L., of Elon; her brother, Eddie Rudder, and wife, Vickie, of Danville, Virginia; and her best friend and companion, Maggie.
A celebration of life service for Karen Pruitt was 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. William Ellis officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends was 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, in the funeral home chapel. Additionally, a memorial service for family and friends in Burlington is planned for a later date.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for the extraordinary care they provided Ms. Pruitt and her family during her illness.
