OBITUARY: Betty Jean Harrell
Betty Jean Mosley Harrell, 84, of Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, at her home. A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Dolly Green Mosley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Harrell; two grandchildren, Douglas Johnson and Junior Harrell; and brothers, J.G. Mosley, Walter Mosley and Ben Mosley Jr.
Betty was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who made everyone feel welcome and loved. She enjoyed sitting on the porch playing with bubbles, making everyone laugh.
Surviving is her daughters, Dot Johnson and husband, James, of Buladean, Debra Forbes and husband, Carroll, of Bakersville, and Mary Boone, of Pumpkin Patch; sons, Gary Harrell and wife, Tessie, of Fork Mountain, and Ricky Harrell and wife, Jennifer, of Hendersonville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Preacher Jack Huskins, Pastor Shane Cassida and Pastor Brandon Harrell officiated. Burial followed in Fork Mountain Missionary Baptist Cemetery. The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. before services at the funeral home.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to CAPS nurse Alma Pittman as well as Cindy Nanny and the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for the wonderful care give to Betty.
