Christine Hicks, 82, of Red Bud Lane, Spruce Pine, went to her heavenly home for a family reunion Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the Brian Center Health and Rehab.
Born April 1, 1935, in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Jeter and Florence Dellinger McKinney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Cleone and Glenn McKinney; and her sister, Frances Ledford.
Christine loved the Lord and was a member of the Burleson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 58 years, L.G. Hicks; her sons, Keith Hicks, Jeff Hicks and wife, Annette, Mark Hicks and wife, Dibbie; her grandsons, Dusty, Cody, Scott, Mattthan and Zack Hicks; her granddaughter, Heather Hawkins; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral honoring the life of Christine Hicks was 2 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Burleson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Arthur Buchanan, Scott Hicks and Tracy Carpenter officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends was 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at the funeral home. Interment followed at the Harris Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
The family would like to extend a “thank you” to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge and to the staff of Brian Center for the wonderful care of Christine. They also would like to thank Barbara Buchanan, Capp worker for Christine for 10 years.
