Charles W. Carpenter
Charles W. Carpenter, 69, of Tempie Mountain Road, Spruce Pine, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Katherine Carpenter and Frank Burleson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gina Burleson; and a brother, Frank Burleson.
Charles was a welder at Feldspar Corporation for a number of years until he retired in 1988. He loved to fish with his son and grandson, who were his best friends, and was also an active grandparent who coached little league football and enjoyed collecting antiques and coins. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
Surviving is his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Wilcox Carpenter; daughter, Tammy “Ta” Carpenter; son, Chucky Carpenter, and wife, Jackie, all of Spruce Pine; grandchildren, Emily Grindstaff and Colby Carpenter; brother, Roger Carpenter, and wife, Mary, of Spruce Pine; and nephews, Chris and Bryan Carpenter. Several other extended family members also survive.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Friday, June 30, in Berry Chapel Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Williams, the Rev. Billy Ledford, the Rev. Travis Wynkoop and David Wilcox officiated.
