Maxine M. Keaton, 85, of Finksburg, Maryland, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019, at home with her loving family around her. Born March 15, 1934, in Bakersville, she was the daughter of the late James “Earl” McKinney Sr. and Nanie Buchanan McKinney. Her husband was the late James Marshall Keaton, who died in 2007.
Before retiring she was a nurse at Rosewood for 42 years. She enjoyed working in the garden and volunteering at Patapsco Church Hall.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Paul Leef, of Erie, Colorado, and Wanda and Jerry Dell, of Finksburg; sister, Edith Burleson, and brother, Ron McKinney, both of Bakersville; three grandchildren, Amanda McNally, and her husband, Mike Boyka, Samantha Dell and Sean Leef; and one great-grandson, Preston Boyka.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew McNally; three brothers, Dave Buchanan, Arie McKinney and J.E. McKinney; and a sister, Ruth Hopson.
The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St. in Westminster, Maryland. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Beans Creek Church of Jesus Christ in Bakersville.
