Mary Eula Yelton, 93, of Bakersville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at her home. A native of Bakersville, she was the daughter of the late John and Hattie Greene Yelton, and the wife of the late Claude Yelton. Mary was also preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mary loved to cook for everyone, enjoyed her flower garden and especially loved her cat, Frisky.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Silvers, of Erwin, Tennessee, Ann Stout (Tommy), of Bakersville, and Vickie Waycaster, of Bakersville; three sons, Howard Yelton (Linda), of Bakersville, Larry Yelton, of Bakersville, and Jim Yelton (Louise), of Morganton; she also leaves behind 31 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with G.B. Garland and Johnathan Thacker officiating. The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. before the service. Burial followed the service in the Phillips Cemetery on Fork Mountain Road. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the Yelton Family.
