James Monroe Webb
James “Jim” Monroe Webb, 74, of the Harrell Hill Community, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Mission Hospital. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Willie Webb and Alice Gortney Webb Tipton. Jim worked for Modern Globe for 32 years and then 15 years at BRP until his retirement. He was a member of Green Mountain Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder. He was also a member of Bradshaw Fire Department, where he served as treasurer for many years and past Master of the Bakersville Masonic Lodge No. 357 A.F. & A.M. Jim was also a founding member of the Mitchell County Recreational Youth League.
Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Ella Jean Garland Webb; daughter, Amanda Webb Duncan, and husband, Donald, of Conover; son, Anthony Webb, and wife, Leia, of Burnsville; grandchildren, Aidan James Duncan, Julianna Duncan and Grayson Webb; sister, Dorothy Campbell, and husband, Hal, of Buladean; niece, Sherry Campbell, of Buladean; and nephew, Chris Campbell, and wife, Betsy, of Racine, Wisconsin. Several other extended family members, neighbors and friends also survive.
Funeral services were 5 p.m. Saturday, June 15, in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The Rev. Joe Bennett and the Rev. John Smith officiated. The family received friends from 3-5 p.m. before services at the funeral home. Graveside Masonic Rites followed the service in the Woody Cemetery on Ridge Road. Pallbearers were his Masonic Brethren.
