Harold Dean Silver, 70, of Dula Road, Spruce Pine, died Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Brian Center Health & Rehab in Spruce Pine.
Born July 22, 1948, in Mitchell County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Ed Silver Sr. and Grace Buchanan Silver. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul E. Silver Jr.
Dean was a member of the Berry Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Director and Sunday School teacher. The Quartz Corp. employed him for 20 years. Dean loved spending time with his family and particularly with his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on projects around his home and working in his yard. He liked football and was a Carolina Panthers fan.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 51 years, Betty Baker Silver, of the home; his sons, Tony Dean Silver, and wife, Lisa, and Lance Carroll Silver, and wife, Kayla, all of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren, McKinley Addison Silver and Isabella Grace Silver, both of Spruce Pine, and Damien Dean Silver, of Hickory; step-granddaughter, Nicole Wheeler; and step-great-grandchildren, Angel and Haven.
A funeral service for Dean Silver was 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Berry Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends was 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Berry Chapel Baptist Church. Graveside service and interment were 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
