Charles William Collis
Charles William Collis entered into rest Sept. 21, 2016. He was born in Marion May 2, 1951, to the late John Collis Sr. and Irene Kelly Huff. A memorial service will be at a later date.
Mr. Collis was a member of First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine and the Yakosuka Lodge No. 20 F & A.M. Mr. Collis served 26 years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Battle “E” Award, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Navy Unit Commendation and Overseas Service Ribbon.
Survivors include his wife, Mizue Collis; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Marlon Enriquez; and a son, Andy Collis, all of Japan; three grandchildren, Jasmine, Eiza and Keoni; a sister, Judy Koon, of North Augusta, South Carolina; a brother, Jeff Collis, of Hendersonville; a niece, Carmen Burdette, and husband, Trey, of North Augusta, South Carolina; dear cousins, Helen Byrd and Maud Hughes, of Spruce Pine; and a dear friend, Yupin Theanyal, of Thailand.
