SPPD asking for help with Verizon store robbery info

SPRUCE PINE – The Spruce Pine Police Department is asking for help identifying a person who stole $10,000 worth of merchandise from the local Verizon store.

Spruce Pine Police Department Det. Kasey Cook said around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, a male subject broke into the store at 151 Skyview Circle and stole tablets, phones and other merchandise.

“This is an open investigation,” Cook said. “We have a couple of leads and are working with another department that is investigating a break-in at a store in Granite Falls the night before.”

Cook added he does not think the subject is local.
