Maxine Brown Pendley
Maxine Brown Pendley, 83, of Spruce Pine, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 11, 2018. She was the wife of the late Fred Lee Pendley and the daughter of the late Pinkney Brown and Mary Greer Brown, of the Cranberry Community. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Lee Autrey; sisters, Iva Lee Pitman, Geraldine Gragg and Ileen Gragg; one brother, George Clayton Brown; and a step-granddaughter, Michelle Dawn Stevens. Maxine was a lifelong member of Green Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and caring for her family.
Surviving are her sons, Randy Pendley and wife, Carol, of Spruce Pine, and Phillip Pendley and wife, Barbara, of Burnsville; daughter, Lisa Autrey and husband, Ricky, of Marion; sisters, Nadine Ledford, of Spruce Pine, and Pauline Burleson, of Avery County; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, July 16, in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. The Rev. Jimmie Hicks and the Rev. Ralph Perry officiated. Burial followed in the White’s Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from noon-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
