Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge receives grant from The Duke Endowment

Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge has received a grant from The Duke Endowment for the Pathways Palliative Care Program.

Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge is a nonprofit organization serving Mitchell, Yancey and Avery counties for more than 25 years. The organization has partnered with many other agencies and healthcare entities to ensure each patient is provided care and resources needed to improve and enhance quality of life.

The Duke Endowment grant will be used to provide the existing Pathways Palliative Program additional support, resources and education to those within the community who are living with a serious illness.

“Words cannot express how excited we are to have the funds to build a palliative program that will ensure the highest quality of care we can provide,” said Christina Jenkins, CEO at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge.

The Duke Endowment was established in 1924 by industrialist and philanthropist James B. Duke. Since its founding, it has distributed more than $3.6 billion in grants.
