NCHSAA POSTPONES 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TRACK AND FIELD MEET UNTIL SUNDAY
CHAPEL HILL – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association 1A and 3A Track and Field State Championship Meet, originally scheduled for Friday, May 18, has been postponed to Sunday, May 20. The decision to postpone was made after monitoring the weather forecast all morning and consulting with the officers of the NCHSAA Board of Directors.
“It is always difficult to decide to postpone or delay a State Championship event. However, with inclement weather in the forecast for much of the day on Friday, it became apparent that this decision is in the best interest of the 1A and 3A student-athletes who have worked so hard to reach this year’s State Championship meet,” said NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker.
The NCHSAA Staff will offer a 10 a.m. FCA Devotion for any interested participants.
The 1A/3A meet will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 20, at Irwin Belk Track located on the campus on North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. The original meet timing schedule will be adjusted by one hour, with field events and a few running preliminaries starting the Championships at 11 a.m.
