Baseball team loses to North Moore in playoffs

LEDGER – The Mitchell High School baseball team saw its season come to end Wednesday, May 9, with a first-round loss to North Moore in the 2018 Baseball State Championship 1A Tournament.

The No. 13-seed Mountaineers left 13 runners on base in the 8-0 loss to the No. 20-seed Mustangs. Mitchell knocked six hits in the contest.

Senior Trystan Jenkins gave up 10 hits and six earned runs in the loss while walking three and striking out five. Senior Ben Young pitched an inning of relief and surrendered two earned runs while walking three and striking out one.

The Mountaineers finished the season at 11-8 overall and 9-6 in the Western Highlands Conference.
