Earlene Baker

Earlene Baker, 95, of White Oak Road, Bakersville, went to be with the Lord Saturday evening April 14, 2018. She was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Elk Park, and was the daughter of the late Marvin and Inez Phillips Greene, of Bakersville. Earlene was married to Lee Baker and they had four children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Baker; and her daughter, Shirley Baker Greene. She is survived by her three sons, Allen Baker (Kay), of Bakersville, Arthur Baker (Margaret), of Bakersville, Carl Baker (Fran), of Lebanon, Missouri; her sister, Doris Hobson, of Bakersville; son-in-law, Bradley Green, of Bakersville; seven grandchildren, Teresa Garland, Tracy Pittman, Chris Baker, Candi Gossett, Stephanie Dellinger, Autumn Baker and Amy Ayers; 10 great-grandchildren, Katelin Gossett, Erika Garland, Megan Dellinger, Meredith Dellinger, Nathan Baker, Ben Baker, Abby Baker, Zeus Ponder, Zaiden Ayers and Chava Yevsa; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was a lifetime member of Bakersville Baptist Church and was a secretary to Dr. A.E. Gouge and worked for many other businesses in Bakersville. 

Earlene will fondly be remembered by her family and friends as a warm and loving spirit that cared for many people in her life. She was a witty and humorous person up until the very end of her physical life. She will deeply be missed by those she loved, and who loved her deeply.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Todd Ayers and Alvin Baker officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Interment followed the service at Bakersville Memorial Cemetery.

Holly Honeycutt

Holly Honeycutt 29, of Mitchell County, passed away April 6, 2018. Holly was born Nov. 26, 1988, to the late Benedict Butler and Tammy Parker. Holly was a loving daughter and mother. She loved reading and graduated college with one of the highest scores in the state for E1. Holly is survived by her mother, Tammy Parker and three children, Brooklynne Honeycutt, Throin Labrie and Aiyslnn Labrie. A private family service will be later.
