Charles Garrett ‘Chuck’ Crowder
Charles Garrett “Chuck” Crowder, 47, went home to be with his Lord on March 18, 2018, at Care Partners Solace Center of Asheville after suffering a traumatic brain injury. He was the son of Ida Jane Maney Crowder, of Burnsville, and the late Charles Sherrell Crowder. He was also preceded in death by grandparents, Burl and Una Maney, and Charles and Doris Crowder; and an aunt, Murrell Hughes.
Chuck attended Duke University and was a gifted swim teacher and lifeguard. He enjoyed nature, music, movies, all animals and a good debate.
In addition to his mother, Chuck is survived by aunts, Marie Nicholson and Mike, of Burnsville, and Patricia Weatherman and Doug, of Lewisville; sister and brother of his heart, Debbie McKinney, of Burnsville, and Brandon Seals, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends; and his cat, Zeek.
Funeral services were 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Cane River Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. Shane Cassida and the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiated. A graveside service was 11 a.m. Thursday in Gilbert Wilson Cemetery on Maney Branch Road.
The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Bonnie Geouge, 92, of Dula Road, Spruce Pine, died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at her home.
Born on Dec. 18, 1925, in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Tim and Lockie Willis Geouge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Pearl Franklin, Belle Buchanan and Nettie Grindstaff; and her brothers, Ed and Glenn Geouge.
Bonnie was a member of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Hampshire Hosiery of Spruce Pine. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her flowers and reading.
Left to cherish her memories are her brother, Leonard Geouge, of Bakersville; her son, Ken McHone, and wife, Elizabeth, of Burnsville; her grandchildren, Cherish Hensley, and husband, Kyle, of Marshall, Zach McHone, of Burnsville, and fiancé, Alishia Benfield, Anthony McHone, of Burnsville; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Bonnie Geouge was 4 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Kyle Hensley officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends was 3-4 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
