FunRun raises nearly $1K for SafePlace
LEDGER – Nearly 30 runners Saturday, Nov. 18, attended the Mitchell High School Future Business Leaders of America Color FunRun.
FBLA students Allie Suddreth and Olivia Rousseau organized the event with the goal of raising $1,000 to help SafePlace of Mitchell County.
“The money is for SafePlace’s direct client need,” said Suddreth, a sophomore at Mitchell High School. “We wanted to do a project to benefit a nonprofit that sometimes gets overlooked when it comes to donations.”
Suddreth and Rousseau also organized a donation bin for items such as diapers and wipes, undergarments, socks, personal hygiene items, perfumes, lotions, make-up, shoes and children’s clothing for SafePlace clients.
“We are very blessed to have so many volunteers,” Rousseau said about the more than 20 people who helped during the event. “I’m glad FBLA could help such a wonderful organization like SafePlace.”
