Horses from 2019 neglect case still in need of homes

    SPRUCE PINE – Mitchell County Animal Rescue assisted Mitchell County Sherriff’s Office with the removal of four horses, three dogs and 30 cats from a home in the Buladean Community this past October after receiving an anonymous tip about the animals’ conditions.

Fund for Mitchell County awards $25,970 in grants

SPRUCE PINE – The Fund for Mitchell County awarded eight grants totaling $25,970 to Mitchell County nonprofits in its recent grant cycle. The Fund for Mitchell County, in partnership with CFWNC, has awarded 96 grants totaling more than $726,519.

A new coat of paint

    SPRUCE PINE – Spruce Pine’s beloved Serviceberry Tree, which surrounds the town clock with its year-round clouds of white flowers, was reinstalled Friday, March 27, after months of work to restore its painted finish.
