Trailhead sign design approved for Creek Walk in Bakersville
BAKERSVILLE – The design for the trailhead sticker and signs have been created for the “Kids in Parks TRACK Trail” grant for the Bakersville Creekwalk.
The town of Bakersville and Mitchell County Recreation received the grant this past November to create a network of hiking, biking, paddling and disc golf trails outfitted with free activity guides for children and families.
Each Trails, Ridges, Activities and Connections for Kids, or TRACK, has a series of self-guided brochures designed to turn an ordinary hike into a fun-filled, discovery-packed adventure. The guides encourage children to truly engage with the outdoors by identifying trees and birds, viewing the forest from the perspective of animals and searching for natural features, among other fun activities.
Kids in Parks was started in 2008 by the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation in North Carolina.
The trailhead signs have been sent off for printing. It could be 3-5 weeks until they are complete.
