Study ranks Mayland No. 9 in the nation
SPRUCE PINE – Mayland one of four North Carolina community colleges ranked in the top-10 nationally, according to a study by SmartAsset.
Mayland ranked well due to its affordability and high graduation and transfer rate, according to the study.
Data compiled by SmartAsset shows 64 percent of Mayland students either graduate or transfer to a four-year institution – a rate 24 percent higher than the national average. The study also deemed Mayland affordable for most students, as annual in-state tuition and fees are around $2,400.
The report is SmartAsset’s fourth annual study of the nation’s best community colleges.
Other North Carolina College’s on the list were Pamlico Community College in Grantsboro, which was ranked No. 1, as well as the College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City and Tri-County Community College in Murphy.
