Sibelco employees buy Christmas presents for area youth, senior citizens
SPRUCE PINE – Sibelco sponsors Angel Trees in Mitchell and surrounding counties each year.
Most of the time there are not enough Angels left to cover all the company wants to include, so Sibelco employee Morgan Hall started going directly to the local principals to see how she and fellow employees could help children with Christmas.
“The past two years I have worked directly with principals and counselors to help provide for children, and it has been a great way to help our local children at Christmas,” Hall said. “Our Sibelco group here in Spruce Pine and Bakersville have such a heart for helping children not only at Christmas but also throughout the year. I am so thankful to work at a place that cares for and helps others so freely.”
For Sibelco’s local region, which includes the Red Hill Plant, Crystal Plant, Quartz Plant and Schoolhouse Plant, the company has supported 189 Angels and 68 stockings for head start children in addition to the $3,000 donation to Mitchell County Toys for Tots.
Gifts were presented to students in Mitchell, Yancey and Avery counties in North Carolina, Unicoi County in Tennessee and residents at The Brian Center.
