Several arrested on drug charges

Ashley Marie Wheeler, 27, of Woody Drive, Bakersville, was arrested Friday, Aug. 30, and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of misdemeanor child abuse. 

Her bond was set at $27,500. She is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 25.

Mitchell County Deputies, with the assistance of the Unicoi County, Tennessee, Sheriff’s Department, on Wednesday, Aug. 28, arrested Tammy Renea Parker, 52, of Hughes Road, Bakersville, and Vickie Thomas, 54, of Fork Mountain Road, Bakersville. 

The pair were charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Parker was also charged with possess of a schedule IV narcotic. Their bonds were set at $37,500. They are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 25.

Regina Susan Salts, 45, of NC Highway 261, Bakersville, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 22, and charged with possession of methamphetamine, felony altering/stealing or destroying criminal evidence, misdemeanor larceny, misdemeanor possession of a schedule III narcotic, misdemeanor possession of a schedule IV narcotic and misdemeanor possession of a schedule VI narcotic. 

Her bond was set at $30,500. 

She is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 25.
