Opioid take-back event is Sept. 7 at BRRH
Blue Ridge Regional Hospital has partnered with the Spruce Pine Police Department, the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and the Mitchell-Yancey Substance Abuse Task Force to help combat the misuse of opioids.
A “Crush the Crisis Opioid Take-Back Day” is scheduled for 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 7, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, 125 Hospital Drive in Spruce Pine, during which people can take action by turning in unused and expired medication for safe disposal. Current figures support the claim that more people die from complications related to opioid misuse and opioid use disorder than all other drugs combined.
Accepted items include tablets, capsules and patches. Needles, syringes, lancets and liquids will not be accepted.
