KB’s BBQ and Grill owner announces closing
SPRUCE PINE – A local restaurant is closing after nine years.
A post on the KB’s BBQ and Grill Facebook page at 9:26 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, announced the business was closing the next day, Friday, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m.
“We are thankful for each of you and are deeply saddened about not seeing your smiling faces each week,” according to the post. “Thank you for your patronage and for becoming more like friends and family to us.”
The post generated hundreds of comments from Facebook users.
Owner Melissa Buchanan Bryant said she toyed with the notion of trying to sell the business this past March but decided to wait to see if things picked up over the summer.
“It didn’t pick up,” she said. “I was working so much I was living there, and the income just wasn’t what it needed to be. My financial advisers and lawyers suggested I close it, so that’s what I did.”
Bryant started working at KB’s shortly after it opened in August of 2010. She bought it in January of 2017.
“I hope to go on to bigger and better things, but I have no plans right now,” she said. “It’s been fun, and I gave it a good shot, it’s just not for me.”
Bryant said the former KB’s space at 12486 NC 226 in Grassy Creek has already been leased and the lessees plan to open another restaurant by the end of September.
