Farmer’s market is now open
The Spruce Pine spring and summer farmer’s market opens Wednesday, April 18, with vendors, music, free coffee and special demonstrations. The weekly market is 2-5:30 p.m. in the park at the Visitor Center on Locust Street.
Vendors are offering pastured beef, pork and free-range eggs, along with plant starts, medicinal herbs and teas, baked goods, oyster and shiitake mushrooms – including grow kits and mushroom extracts - and designed etched glass products. Goat’s milk soaps and lotions will be available. Available produce includes spinach, kale, wild ramps, radishes, scallions, pak choi, microgreens, beets and turnips.
Mark Langner will be on hand to demonstrate the restoration of dull knives.
