DeVos to launch newest novel at The Market on Oak
Award-winning author and Mitchell County resident Janie DeVos is signing books from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at The Market on Oak on Oak Avenue in Spruce Pine.
DeVos is celebrating the launch of her newest book, “The Rising of Glory Land,” which is the second in a three-book series.
DeVos is a celebrated author who has published many books since she began her writing career in 2001. After a career in the advertising industry, DeVos decided it was time to focus on something she had a passion for, writing. DeVos began her writing career with her first children’s book, “How High Can You Fly?” that was published in 2001. After many successful children’s books, DeVos began focusing on writing adult fiction novels. In 2015, DeVos published her first adult novel titled “Beneath a Thousand Apple Trees,” which was inspired by The Orchard at Altapass in Mitchell County.
DeVos continues to write adult fiction books. “The Rising of Glory Land” will have its debut June 19. She is currently working on the third book of the series that is scheduled to come out later this year. According to DeVos, “The Rising of Glory Land” is set in the late-1800s and follows a Florida family as it strives to build a legacy in the burgeoning new city of Miami. DeVos also gathers most of her inspiration from her family, their struggles and triumphs, and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
