Bakersville galleries opening for season
BAKERSVILLE – Make your way to Bakersville Friday, April 13, to discover what the town’s galleries and artists have been up to this winter.
In the town’s four galleries – Anita’s Atelier, In Tandem, Mica and Shane Mickey Pottery – are special celebratory events and galleries will be open until 7 p.m.
At Anita’s Atelier meet new Bakersville artists Nathan and Mariella Favors and David Westmeier. Favor’s word turned pieces incorporate natural elements. Westmeier’s carved vessel forms are raku fired.
In Tandem presents a collection of ceramic art and jewelry from the area, the region and around the nation. Among the local artists, you will find Susan Feagin, Ken Sedberry, Valerie Schnaufer, Andy Palmer and Connie Schulze.
Stop by Mica Gallery to visit with the local artists who co-own and operate the gallery featuring contemporary craft.
Meet Mica’s newest artist-members J.J. Brown and Simona Rosasco, of Fyreglas Studio. This year Mica presents Mica Living, a new area in the gallery that demonstrates living with fine handmade craft. Coffee and crumpets are on offer during daytime hours; Mica’s “Wine Down Friday” occurs from 4-7 p.m. To celebrate re-opening for 2018 Mica, collectors will receive a handmade gift with each purchase Friday, April 13, while supplies last.
Shane Mickey Pottery offers Mickey’s pottery and works by resident artist Mac McCusker. Linda McFarling’s pottery is also displayed as well as work by additional artists.
