Another area restaurant closing
SPRUCE PINE – Another Mitchell County restaurant is closing.
The Pizza Shop and Dry County Brewing Co. owners Chad and Jennifer Rambo announced this past week the restaurant’s last day of operation is Sunday, Dec. 31. The announcement makes the third such in the recent past, with Twisted Laurel in Spruce Pine and Harvest Market in Bakersville both closing in the past month.
“The list of reasons (to close) is long, but ultimately it is the best decision for the well-being of ourselves and our family,” Jennifer said. “Please know that this was not an easy decision with many factors to consider. We aren’t relocating and will still be deeply involved in our community.”
The Pizza Shop opened eight years ago 585 Oak Ave. in Spruce Pine. The couple began discussing closing the restaurant in October and chose the Dec. 31 closing date to give the two full and six part-time employees time to find other jobs.
Jennifer said she will be a substitute teacher at Spruce Pine Montessori School and Chad has several job prospects, Jennifer said.
The building is for sale with or without the contents.
“It’s obvious that Spruce Pine needs a gathering space, so let’s pull together our collective vision and see it happening again,” Jennifer said. “In the coming weeks, we hope to see you for food, drinks, laughs, tears and hugs.”
