The Choir of Trinity Episcopal Church will sing Evensongs during Lent at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 4; and 5 p.m. Sunday, March 18. Trinity Church is at 15 Hemlock Ave. in the English Woods neighborhood of Spruce Pine. A reception will follow each of these Evensongs in the Parish Hall. The “Fill My Cup, Lord” women’s conference is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Western Carolina Church, 31 Cross St. in Spruce Pine. Lunch is provided free to all attendees and daycare is provided for children 5 years old and under. Reservations are required to get a headcount for food purposes. The Toe Cane Beekeepers meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at United Community Bank in Burnsville. Dr. Scott Pearson of Mars Hill University will present “Effects of land use change on native species with a special focus on pollinators.” Meeting begins with pot luck dinner followed by announcements by President Susan Spruill and Pearson’s presentation. The meeting and presentation are free. and one does not have to be a member to attend.

The deadline to apply for the Toe River Arts Studio Tour June 1-3 is 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at either the Spruce Pine or Burnsville gallery. Artists must show in a participating Mitchell or Yancey county studio and be current members of Toe River Arts.
