Car show – The Carolina Pushrodz 11th annual Run for the Hills Car Show begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, on Marvins Garage Road in Green Mountain.
Forum – “A Time to Remember. A Time to Act” is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at the Mitchell County Courthouse. The event is for anyone in Mitchell, Yancey and Avery county who has been affected by drug addiction or lost a loved one from a drug overdose.
Concert – The Spruce Pine Main Street Music in the Park Summer Concert Series continues from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Central Park on Locust Street in downtown Spruce Pine with the Jay Brown Band. Admission is free. Call 828-765-3008 for more information.

Training – The make-up session for Mitchell County Substitute Teacher Training is 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, in the board of education board room. This is a required training session for all substitute teachers during the 2017-18 school year.

Class reunion – The Harris High School Class of 1967 is celebrating its 50th class reunion from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Spruce Pine Fire Department. There will be a section for Class of 1967 members to sit together at the Mitchell football game the night before. Car show – The 2017 “Rolling ‘Neath the Roan” Car Show, BBQ and Swap Meet begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, on the grounds of the Buladean Community Foundation Center. More than 250 cars, trucks and motorcycles are expected to participate. There will be a 50/50 drawing, bake sale and raffle; area arts and crafts vendors as well as specialty items for sale. Live music is 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
