HICKORY – Charles Isaiah Davis, 70, of Hickory passed away on Aug. 7, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born on Dec. 9, 1943 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late George and Ruth Buchanan Davis. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Charles was an avid reader, had a passion for gardening and taking care of his yard. He worked for Southern Furniture Hardware for 18 years, who was loved and cared about by the employees.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen Kelly Davis, Fred Davis; sisters, Louise Davis Frasier, Betty Jean Davis Elderth; and a very special aunt, Etta Buchanan Ward.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Charlotte Stout Davis of Hickory; daughter, Sandra Lee Davis Kinsella and husband Scott of Mooresville; brothers, Billy Ray Davis of Longview, Stanley Eugene Davis of Bakersville; six brother-in-laws; four sister -in-law; a number of nieces and nephews; and a beloved dog, Roscoe.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Catawba Funerals and Cremations with Pastors Jerry McCurry and John Henry McCurry officiating. Burial followed at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family received friends prior to the service from 1:30-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
