SPRUCE PINE - Millie Davis Renfro, 93, of Fence Lane in the Crabtree community, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Spruce Pine. Born on May 9, 1921 in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Laura McMahan Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Renfro, who passed away in 1999; sisters, Dollie Smith, Carrie Frye, Marie Nanney, Sally Sparks and Mae Braswell; a brother, Leonard Davis; one grandson, Brandon Hughes; and daughter-in-law, Jerri Renfro. Millie was a member of Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker all of her life and loved cooking and being with her family. In her spare time, she liked to grow flowers, spend her time gardening, and she loved to be with her children.
Survivors include sons, D.G. Renfro and wife, Carolyn, Lee Renfro and Jerry “Chuck” Renfro and wife, Sharon, all of Spruce Pine; daughters, Beulah McKinney and husband, Richard, Birtie Willis and husband, Doug, and Jerri Hughes and husband, Robert, all of Spruce Pine; a sister, Georgie Presnell of Marion; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Friday, at Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs. Doug Willis, Fred Proctor, Darrin Waldroup and Dallas Renfro officiating. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, at Webb Funeral Home.
